Location and Access

Ah, Santa Barbara Cenote, a popular gem nestled amidst the captivating landscapes of the Yucatan Peninsula. The Santa Barbara cenotes are located on Yucatan Highway 10 between the towns of Homun and Cuzama. It’s a little over an hour’s drive from Merida. The entire area is filled with cenotes and state parks so you are surrounded by nature everywhere.

You’ll find signs announcing Santa Barbara along highway 10.  A good source of income for the locals is to act as a guide for cenotes. The people will be along the highway offering to take you to a cenote of your choice. A tip of $50 MXN is a good amount.

There are no neon signs or flashy arrows pointing you in the right direction; it’s up to you to uncover this hidden oasis. Once you arrive at your destination, a sense of awe washes over you as you take in the breathtaking sight before your eyes.

The cost as of August 5, 2023 is $480 MXN per person. Small children do get a discount. This price includes access to the 4 cenotes, lifejacket, a bike or horse cart ride to cenotes and a meal. All in all, an excellent value!
