The earliest documented mention of “Hacienda Mucuyché” can be traced back to the 17th century when it was under the ownership of the Peon family for an extended duration. The hacienda was primarily engaged in diverse activities, including agriculture, livestock farming, and the cultivation of henequen. However, with the decline of the henequen industry’s prominence, the estate remained inactive for an extended period. Today, the hacienda stands largely in its original state, with only minimal restoration work carried out to preserve its historical integrity.

Cenote Carlota, characterized by a half-open structure and a depth of 7 meters, offers a refreshing respite after your exploration of the hacienda. In 1865, during her journey from Yucatan to Campeche, Empress Carlota of Mexico spent a night at the hacienda and became the inaugural person to immerse herself in the crystalline waters of this cenote. Consequently, it was aptly named in her honor.

To journey from one cenote to another, you must traverse a channel, either by swimming or walking along the stone pathway. Whichever path you choose, you’ll relish in the serenity, natural beauty, and refreshing ambiance of the channel’s surroundings.

Experience the majestic allure of a cave cenote at Azul Maya. Its unique beauty will captivate you, inviting you to discover why the Mayas revered these sites as sacred.

Whether you’re a passionate globetrotter or simply in search of a distinctive adventure, Hacienda Mucuyché should unquestionably find a place on your list of destinations to explore. This hidden paradise assures an indelible voyage into the core of natural splendor and amazement.
